Park

Let yourself succumb to the relaxing atmosphere of the botanical park that surrounds the four-star Alla Posta dei Donini hotel, where time is marked by the sounds of nature, the colour of the trees and the fragrance of the flowers.

An oasis of relaxation just 8 km from Perugia in which to stroll and enjoy the harmony of nature, perhaps following the botanical itinerary that will take you on a discovery tour of the characteristics of the plants and trees that live on the 2 hectares of park that surround the Alla Posta dei Donini historic residence.

The Italianate Garden

As guests arrive at the villa, they are welcomed by an elegant Italianate garden planted in the 1600s, home to several centuries-old trees, including the majestic 250 years old Ginkgo Biloba (whose leaf inspired the logo of the wellness hotel Alla Posta dei Donini) and a marvellous Lebanese cedar that is more than 300 years old, whose branches seem to reach out and embrace those who come to sit in its shade.

Part of the garden is home to pine trees and perfumed boughs of jasmine frame the spacious square in front of the old 1800s stables. Two large nettle trees stand guard with reassuring strength and vigour at the park and villa and render access to the lane truly unique.  The garden is further embellished by terracotta amphorae that date to the late 1600s and old stone benches.

the romantic wood and the rose garden

Behind the villa, the Italianate garden gives way to the romantic wood, a magical place marked by stone caves, paths and little bridges that lead through a centuries old oak grove, home to a tall and magnificent example that is more than 400 years old.

This part of the grounds is an important one in the history of Perugia and Umbria.  It was here that they found various historical and archaeological relics, like Etruscan funerary urns dating to the III century BCE, a dovecot entirely painted to resemble wood, a commemorative chapel from the 1800s dedicated to the Countess Laura graced with cherubs, columns, stone decorations, a rounded XVII century terracotta vase and other architectural elements from the same period.

Finally, a rose garden has been planted adjacent to Villa Laura with 100 varieties of roses, from the oldest most fragrant types to the more dramatically streaked coloured versions.
